- She is varnished with tan sails and a lifting keel which draws 2 foot / 5 foot.
- Ivy May was built by Alan Platt in Benfleet in 1973 (Essex). She is comfortably fitted out, and despite her size she provides very adequate accommodation.

SOS - The Prince of Wales needs urgent rescuing - RESCUED
She is a 30ft wooden Colne River Police Boat, with a historic value, as she is only one of 2 left in existence as far as we are aware. The sister ship was called The 'Victoria'.
The Colne River Police patrolled from 1890, having replaced the anchored watch smacks. These very nippy vessels would patrol the river, protecting the Oyster fishery and upholding law and order. The Oyster fishery had grown in number so it needed policing. Forty plus smacks would dredge the area.
Their patrol area spread from the mouth of the river to the Colne Fisher buoy. At the peak of the season there could be as many as 200 fishermen, also known as dredgermen, working the Oyster beds.
She is a project worth doing, so please telephone the office if you are interested, and arrange to come and view her.
